Introduction to the HPC Systems at Geophysics
The seminar is addressed at the new PhD students and PostDocs in our groups, but might also be of interest to master students currently performing a thesis project with a computational focus, or plan to do so. The plan is to give an introduction to the IT systems of Geophysics focussing on infrastructure, software, concepts, and regulations important for running simulation codes: * General Overview * Operating System - Debian GNU/Linux * Storage Infrastructure and Backup * screen, tmux and nohup * Environment Modules - Software * High Performance Computing (HPC) at Geophysics * Tour through our Server Room
