Systematic distribution of magnetic crystals throughout the human brain
LMU researchers have for the first time investigated the distribution of magnetic crystals throughout the human brain. The study shows that they are asymmetrically distributed and are mainly found in the cerebellum and brain stem.

Stuart A. Gilder, Professor at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Christoph Schmitz, Professor of Neuroanatomy, and their teams have now systematically investigated the distribution of magnetic particles throughout the human brain. The results are currently published in the journal Scientific Reports.
