MESS is getting hot! What happens when rocks mess with hot waters? This winter school will focus on any aspects of induced seismicity. Training will be built around applications using the ObsPy (www.obspy.org) python library for seismology. The following topics will be treated with a theoretical point of view complemented by practicals with programming problems using Python/ObsPy: 1) Detection of  seismic events, 2) Location problem, 3) b-value  estimation, 4) magnitude estimation, 5) catalogue completeness, 6) earthquake statistics, 7) moment tensor inversion 8) network design. All these problems will be treated with a special focus on induced seismicity. Lecturers are Dr. J. Wassermann (LMU Munich), Prof. Dr. Torsten Dahm (GFZ Potsdam), Dr. Toni Kraft (ETH Zurich), Prof. Dr. Tarje Nissen-Meyer (Oxford), Lion Kirscher (LMU Munich), Tobias Megies (LMU Munich).
