Inaugural Meeting, November 10, 2008, TUM
The Geophysics group presented the seismic inverse problem. The meeting served primarily to investigate possible joint projects for the PhD positions. A few tentative directions discussed were:
- optimization of the adjoint seismic inverse problem from a mathematical point of view (Ulbrich)
- using statistics to (1) generate Earth models sampling a pdf describing prior information, (2) to quantify uncertainties (Czado)
- visualization of Earth models and wavefields in 3D, visualization of uncertainties of seismic inverse problems (Westermann).
