Computational Seismology: A Practical Introduction
Oxford University Press (published Nov 2016)

The book gives an introduction to fundamentals of seismic wave propagation, discretization, parallelization,
and discusses the numerical solution of the 1D elastic wave equation with six different approaches in a
comparative way: 1) the finite difference method, 2) the pseudospectral method, 3) the linear finite-element
method, 4) the spectral-element method, 5) the finite-volume method, 6) the discontinuous Galerkin
method. This is followed by a chapter on applications of these techniques in the Earth Sciences.
In the text code fragments are given that illustrate implementation in a computer code. Substantial
electronic material complements the book material.

Content of the book is accessible here.
